How in the heck do I manage my WordPress site?
What is WordPress?

WordPress is an open source Content Management System (CMS), often used as a blog publishing application, powered by PHP and MySQL. It has many features including a plug-in architecture and a template system. As of February 2011, version 3.0 of the WordPress.org software had been downloaded over 32.5 million times (source).
Why Should You Attend This Class?
This class will cover the elements of managing your website building on the WordPress.org software package. We will focus on efforts on WordPress version 3.1+. (It’s a good idea to keep your software updated)
We will cover lots of areas and expect this class to take the full 2 hours scheduled.
Example topic areas will include:
- Difference between a post and a page
- How to add or edit content
- What is a widget anyway

- Menus
- Themes
- Commenting
- Permalinks
Bring your questions. We will try to address as much as we can. The format is relaxed and the floor is always open for qeustions. Make sure to bring your laptop! It is much easier to learn if you follow along. Central Library has a free WiFi connection.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Andrew Epperson
Andrew is a graduate from the University of Evansville who has been creating websites professionally for over 9 years. He started in freelance creating small sites for organizations around the United States. After as few years in freelance he took the jump into the corporate world as the Marketing Director for a local software company managing their websites and marketing materials. In 2008 he joined the web development team at Norlight, Inc. as the Lead Web Designer / Developer and Search Engine Optimization Specialist. In March 2011 he joined Lieberman Technologies as a Senior Web Specialist. WordPress is his CMS of choice.
